Media conference on drupa 2008 consisting of Journalists delegates from all over the world, including Printing Review International, started from 12 January 2008 which concluded on 17th January ‘08. The participating companies who gave presentations on their products were:

If you peruse last issue of Printing Review, you will find her article; EFI (Electronics for Imaging) (Guy Gheght and Oliver Ludike); Xerox (Linda Seelman); Fujifilm (Hans Walla); Kodak (Elizabeth Hogan Scott); Kodak Print On-Demand Solutions (Benjamin Shimshoni).PrintCity also held seminar on Drupa ‘08 from 13th February, at Hotel Bachmair in Tegernsee near Munich (Germany); where the following member companies of PrintCity introduced, to the journalists delegates from all over the world including India; their existing and new products which they would be exhibiting in Drupa 2008 viz.

MAN Roland, Sun Chemical, UPM and Océ, Sappi, Procemex, Megtec, M-real, MacDermid , Printing Solutions, Leonhard Kurz. PrintCity was founded in 1998 and is an established long-term alliance, representing businesses active in all global markets. PrintCity is a Strategic Alliance that shares worldwide expertise from independent companies in the graphic arts industry. Members work together in partnerships within a complete workflow - from pre-press to press to post-press - across the packaging, commercial and publishing sectors. In 2008 the PrintCity Alliance celebrates its 10th anniversary and its third joint drupa fair.

PrintCity is an allianze to; connecting the competence of members to offer added value solutions worldwide; delivering knowledge through seminars, trade fairs, project studies, publications and the Internet; promoting the value of print & packaging as media to responsibly satisfy the world’s needs; encouraging networking within the whole industry to stimulate worldwide co-operation among all partners. At its 2008 Media Event the PrintCity Alliance has announced seven Competence Centres, plus other significant new visitor attractions for drupa:

Drupa 2008 focus on the ‘Connection of Competence’ PrintCity Alliance core networking customer benefit – ‘Networking’ internally and externally is the reason that this unique alliance has grown in global success & importance over the last ten years. New PrintCity theme for drupa 2008 – communicating the ‘Connection of Competence’ networking advantages of the Alliance, together with other visitor benefits. Seven market-leading PrintCity Alliance Competence Centres in Hall 6 – where visitors can see the latest technologies explained and get comprehensive information that covers the whole value and process chain – all from a grouping of knowledgeable suppliers working together.

German Printing and Media Industries Federation is an ‘association of associations’—the umbrella organization for 12 regional printing associations throughout Germany. Like the Printing Industries of America/ Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), the German group represents printers across the country. In Germany, however, the companies represented include offset, gravure, letterpress, screen printers, flexographers, bookbinders, and newspapers, whereas the various processes. German Federal Government’s programme is to promote cutting-edge university research from the winter semester of 2007 onwards. School will accept some 30 post graduate students and offer them optimal development opportunities in their area as part of a fast-track programme.

Munich is a particularly attractive center of learning not only for its academic excellence, but also due to its proximity to the mountains. Munich does not shine with one centre of academic excellence. It actually has two. The Technical University also secured a top ranking. This success is based on cooperation that has steadily grown over the years between interdisciplinary research groups beyond the confines of individual higher education institutions. The principal importer of printing machinery was the United States, which brought in $1.924 billion in 2004, followed closely by China, which imported $1.583 billion. Germany itself imported $1.009 billion in printing equipment, for a net export value of $4.92 billion. Still, Germany is more than the most significant producer of printing equipment. As might be expected, the country is also home to a significant printing industry.
