Address: 461, rue de la Papeterie, Domaine Universitaire, BP 65
City: 38402 St-Martin-d'Hères Cedex
Country: France
The EFPG is one of the 9 engineering schools affiliated to the INSTITUT NATIONAL POLYTECHNIQUE DE GRENOBLE (INPG). In its field of expertise, the EFPG is the only school in France and the largest in Europe.
THE EFPG is:
- A private establishment, managed by an association and financed mostly by the papermaking and graphic industries.
- An engineering school operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education through its affiliation to the INPG.
Management is undertaken by a committee with a strong industrial representation, to keep teaching up to date with the needs of the industry.
The EFPG is located on the Grenoble/St-Martin-d'Hères Campus, close to many research establishments such as CEA Grenoble, CENG, INRIA, CNRS, ESRF... The buildings cover an area of 8000 square meters, including a 3500 square meter industrial building.
The teaching staff is composed of 30 permanent teachers and 30 non-permanent teachers, most of the latter possessing an industrial background. 35 engineers, technicians and executives are in charge of the management of the school.
Training:
- Engineering training (3 years).
- Specific Course for engineers (1 year).
- DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies).
- Contribution to the training of students from 2 Grenoble high schools.
- Training for executives from the papermaking and graphic industries.
- Training for teachers from high schools specialised in these sectors.
Also at the EFPG ...
- The Paper and Printing Science Laboratory (LGP2), a research unit associated with the CNRS and the Technical Centre for Paper (CTP).
- Alternance engineering training through apprenticeship and academic studies.
- The Printing Resource Centre, a unit collecting information and material for other training centres and accessible via the Internet.
- A commercial branch, TECHPAP S.A., created in partnership with the Technical Centre for Paper to promote the products of research.
A high level of education is backed up with modern and specialised equipment:
Computers :
- 40 Pentium equipped PCs, connected to a network.
- 25 Macintosh connected to a network.
- 4 SUN work stations Å specific simulation tools ...
Industrial and semi-industrial equipment :
- 2 paper machines fitted with centralised command systems.
- 2 2-colour offset presses.
- 1 scanner and numerical colour proof systems.
- 1 fibrous suspension processing pilot system.
- 1 fluidified bed effluent processing pilot system.
- Deinking cells ...
Laboratory equipment:
- Electronic microscope and image analysis system.
- Fibrous structures characterisation systems : porosity, granulometry, rheology...
The EFPG is thus equipped with most of the specialised systems used to produce and study paper, board and converted products.
