Hong Kong is one of the well-known leading re-exporting centres all over the world. Over the years, packaging industry has played a crucial role in enabling manufacturers to create an impact with their products and services, and in return helping them to boost their sales. The Hong Kong Packaging Institute Limited is a non-profit making professional body which was incorporated in 1983. The Institute's prime goal is to broaden the interests and foster packaging technologies in Hong Kong.
°°° The Institute's objectives are:
## To enhance the state of packaging professionals;
## To encourage the research in state-of-art technology and resource pioneering in order to reach the international market standard and development;
## To stimulate the trade and technology exchange in the Greater China area;
## To emphasize the important of packaging in environmental protection;
## To foster the co-operation and fellowship amongst its members.
°°° ACTIVITIES
The Institute's activities include:
## Functional - enquiry referral, packaging problem solving
## Educational - courses, seminars and symposium, study tour, factory visits
## Promotional - packaging exhibition
°°° MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Institute is divided into five types, namely:
A) FULL MEMBER (Voting) --- person who
a) has reached the age of 24, and
b) holder of recognized University Degree or Polytechnic graduate in Industrial/Technical Engineering Packaging Design or Commercial Graphic Packaging Design Studies, or its equivalent qualification, or
c) holder of recognized Diploma in Packaging Studies, or
d) Has had at least three years of practical experience in responsible position in Packaging as profession, such as:-
- Consumer Packaging Designer, or
- Packaging Engineering, or
- Packaging related Administration Manager, or
- Packaging Quality Assurance & Testing Manager, or
- Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Toiletry and Chemical Industry Professionals, or
- Material handling equipment and machinery, Sales Engineer or Marketing Manager, or
- Operations and Logistics Manager, or
- Production and Quality Control manager, or
- Package printing Designer & Manager, etc.
B) ASSOCIATE MEMBER (Non-Voting)
a) Person who involves in Consumer Packaging, Transport Packaging, Physical Distribution, Packaging Material/Equipment Production & Marketing
b) Person who involves in Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic and Toiletry, Chemical, Food and Non-food Packaging
c) Person who interests in the Packaging Profession.
C) STUDENT MEMBER (Non-Voting) --- person who is perusing a course in Packaging
D) CORPORATE MEMBER (Voting)
any company/corporate involves in Consumer Packaging, Transport Packaging, Physical Distribution, Packaging Material/Equipment Production & Marketing may admit as a corporate member at the discretion of the General Committee.
E) HONORARY CORPORATE MEMBER (Voting) - requirement same as section D
